4.5
I love Altra running shoes for the zero drop and wider toe box. This was my first time buying the Solstice line. I'm always a 10.5 in Altras but this 10.5 was about a half size too big for me.I used to have to bring 2 different pairs of shoes to do my cross-training...one for cardio (thick-soled running shoes) and another for weight lifting. When lifting weights, you want your feet to be planted as firmly on the floor as possible for maximum stability. When I used to do strictly weight lifting, I, at the recommendation of a former competitor, started lifting wearing Converse Chucks and my squats, shoulder presses, and deadlifts significantly improved (he even said he sometimes lifts barefoot). When I started cross training, my Chucks weren't cutting it for the sprinting/cardio aspect. I started a quest to find a thin-soled but supportive cross-trainer and found these. I have been wearing them for over a month now and they are the quintessential cross-trainers. They are flat enough to offer great stability for my lifts, yet cushioned and supportive enough to make my cardio work comfortable and effective. Highly recommend! My podiatrist recommended these shoes because of a toe trauma issue. I was very skeptical because I have a narrow foot, but with my own insole in place of the existing one, it works. I love the zero drop; my toes are happy. The laces on this model are very thin, so I will probable replace them. I also bought the Timp model, which also runs narrow in depth, and love them. They are cute, comfortable and have held up well! I’m hard an shoes, but they have endured my wear!!!I love Altra. I wear mine every day. This model, however is a bit too narrow in the forefoot for me. It would probably be great for someone with an average width foot. These shoes are so comfortable. It has a wide toe box so it didn't feel tight at all II have wide feet). The only thing that was so disappointing was that the soles started coming apart after only a couple times wearing it.This is my second pair of Altras (first being the Intuition). I loved those but I wore them out and these one awesome! They are light weight and very comfortable. I am not a runner but these make me want to run (seriously). I tend to row or bike, but the versatility with these are great. I have zero complaints. Highly recommend.I like the shoes okay. They are lightweight, and comfortable. I don’t feel the bottom is as sturdy as I would like. A thicker sole is needed for me, but if it wasn’t, it would be a great show. I run between 3 and 6 miles a day and need the padding for my forefoot. This is my 3rd pair of Altra and the reason I love this brand is because my instep is quite high & I love the added room in the toe box. This model is much narrower on the instep and pinches my foot at an uncomfortable spot.Really love the spaciousness in the toebox, even though it's not obvious in the photos.I mean, many brands sell shoes with the promise of generous toebox, but these really deliver!Would absolutely buy these again in the future!
