My husband used a edge trimmer to cut his line. (Suggested in another comment) took him about 1.5hours as a part of the property he did by hand (near cable box rounded off near house). We installed the wire and noticed it was inconsistent in spots. Called customer service right away. They said to move the line 5feet back from cable box as it could be interference. That's worked and it's doing great. But they did more. They said on the off chance it's the transmission box they're sending out a new box and 2 new collars just in case. Amazing! My husband was on the phone less then 5minutes. So he was happy about that alone. We have a 160lb boerboel and a almost 70lb cane corso puppy. The puppy got buzzed once and cried cause he got scared. Now he wont go near the flags at all. The big guy is used to trainer collars so he knows the deal. It was getting him used to his new guidelines. He loves to go pee on the neighbors tree and run up their porch and scratch the door and wait for snacks. Lol. He learned quick he cant do that.We dis walk both dogs around the property on a lease with the collars on at 1st. Gave our commands etc and they did great. It was later when we had them free that the big guy ran over the line to pee quick and got zapped and he ran right back. He is so used to us first saying no, then giving him a beep then a buzz and by that time hes doing peeing on the neighbors property. So this was great progress. He hasnt crossed over again. The trainer part on the remote is so easy to understand. My 15yr old son uses it too. Our puppy loves to dig and pull up chunks of grass. All we had to do was give a beep and he stops. Cause he did get that buzz earlier I mentioned. And in the house he wasnt listening so I hit the beep and he stopped immediately. Were very happy with this product and was well worth the $270 for the 2 dog system. Based on reviews we opted for the 16 gauge wire with our large breed dogs. So happy we did.Our driveway! I dont see many people mention this. The end of our driveway that meets sidewalk as a little crack. Its actually over due to be sealed (thankfully) there were some spots we had to chisel. By we I mean the hubby. He used his "war hammer" and a large flat head screwdriver. The wire is so thin it didnt need much space. Then got some sealant from home depot and covered the crack.I'll definitely update this review in a few months, good or bad.Fantastic system. Couldn’t find in Canada (hence the US purchase) a system that combined fence system with plug in controller, & easily rechargeable collar unit with a remote, also rechargeable. Means I can also use when hiking off property to enforce dog should not play with porcupines etc. Easy to train dog to fence boundaries. 10 vibration & shock levels. My now 7 mo old lab responds very well to level 2. Only took 2 weeks, 3 times a day in 10 minute sessions of my training for my then 5 1/2 mo lab to completely respect the boundary. Even chasing a ball she halts approx 6’ from fence, sits, then looks at me, looks at ball, looks at me, as if to say, you thew it too close to the fence, you go get it & I’ll sit here until you do. No more chasing school buses which would be fatal. She can run & play throughout the entire property safely. We purchased the thicker wire & installed it above ground, using the staples to secure it in place much as you would landscape fabric. Once the boundary flags were no longer necessary & using a little common sense we can easily cut the grass. For uneven terrain just use more staples. At the base of the driveway we ran the wire through the culvert. System works great even under a foot of snow. We mounted & plugged in controller inside an enclosed garden shed & used a timer to automatically turn system on at 6am & off at midnight. Similar systems installed by professional companies cost thousands of dollars more & require their services to train your dog when in fact the training is so simple a 10 yr old child could do it. Company happily will answer questions so you are confident this system will meet your specific needs. We chose not to bury the wire because leaving it above ground we can easily take all of it when we move next year.I swear people would give a 5 star rating to the person that robbed their home as long as he shut the front door and turned off the lights before leaving...I purchased the 500 ft thick grade wire with the combo training fence set.The remote worked very well but the rest of the system was disappointing. I was excited for this product and did everything I could to get it to work properly. The better grade wire was way too thick to connect to the power box. I spent more time getting it connected than I did laying the wire out around the yard. The connection was never really "good" in my opinion but I got it to stop beeping eventually. The clamps that hold the wire in the box are cheap and designed more for holding something like speaker wire instead of a thick solid copper wire. The collar would hold a charge for about 1 day. To be fair I was testing it for a solid 10-15 minutes after charging it though. It still didn't feel like it held long enough. If you forgot to charge it one day it may not work.Worst of all though, the signal was extremely inconsistent. I would get random beeps several feet from the line and other times I could walk over the line with no beep/vibration or shock. The three level alert is very inconsistent. Sometimes you get a beep only, other times no beep but rapid vibration, sometimes one vibration, the shocks come randomly and sometimes not at all. I was tested the connections over and over, tested the connection of the little shock indicator piece, tried their little piece to help with inconsistent signal (doesn't connect to the thick wire well) and constantly charged the collar to make sure it wasn't user error. I still got inconsistent results. I'm not willing to take the risk with my dog so I'm sending it back. Not sure what to do now other than install an actual fence.
