THE PRONGS ON THE PLASTIC BUCKLE ARE TOO NARROW SO THE COLLAR HAS COME APART A FEW TIMES DURING OUR WALKS. Fortunately, our puppy doesn't run away so it didn't result in any mishaps but that does make this collar unsafe. We rectified this problem by threading a carabiner between the metal ring and the loop on the collar where the existing plastic buckle is also attached. It's hard to explain without a picture but the carabiner basically overlaps the plastic buckle. Fortunately, this workaround will continue working no matter how much we need to extend the collar as our puppy grows but this solution shouldn't be necessary in the first place. If I had more energy, I would just return/exchange it but it doesn't seem worth the effort for a $12 item when we have a homemade solution.We do get a lot of compliments on this item and I definitely feel like my puppy is safer when we walk at night but it also seems much dimmer than when we first bought it. Although we use it almost daily, we've only had it a few months so I hope the battery isn't running out already but it probably is. If our nightly bike rides are at least 1/2 an hour and run time is supposed to be 60-80 hours, the battery would only last 4 months on the low end and about 5.5 months on the high end but probably less since we're sometimes out for 45 minutes - 1 hour. When I ordered, it was a new product so it took a few weeks to arrive. In the meantime, I bought a standard reflective collar of the same brand and that works well too. (We have a few Sassy Dog Wear products and like them all.) My fiance thinks the reflective collar shows up better in car headlights and the LED collar shows up best in the dark so we have started taking him out with BOTH on just to be extra safe, not that we're crazy pet parents or anything :-).I also prefer this style that has the LED going all around the collar vs. other light up products that just clip on and only illuminate the clip on part. I also like that there is a 9" range in the sizing. It seems like a lot of collars on the market only have 4 or 6 inches of variance.Bottom line - I would search for alternatives before buying this item again. Far from perfect but I'm still glad I bought this because I do feel safer and it's cute! Disco Dog :-).
